Still got it

On Friday night we took a group of young people to Zagreb to see Martin Smith and Matt Redman in concert. We first saw Martin Smith when we were teenagers too. His songs, and the music of Delirious, have been a big influence. Sometimes it's easy to forget how big but there's nothing like the live experience to jog the memory; no escape from the weird and wonderful joy of revisiting the familiar in another time and another place. Context may change but truth doesn't for those who want to be History Makers . The focus my be different but the passion still comes from a heart that burns with that Obsession . Taking It Wherever It Goes was what they used to say. Back then we didn't expect it to bring us to this point, but here we are...happy we still have the energy and desire to out dance the teenagers on God's Great Dance Floor !

Dancing the Quadrille and the Riddle of Bruce Lee

I recently made a video where I confessed to ‘air drumming’ as I walk down the road listening to my iPod. Music has that kind of effect on me. So it was that around noon today I was drawn to Spanish Square by the sound of a live band playing loudly. It seems I stumbled upon the prelude to a world record attempt by an enormous number of students dancing the Quadrille. Quite random really! Feeling a little out of place I carried on to the park because I’d been told the statue of Bruce Lee had been reinstated. If he had he has vanished again already. His plinth remains; possibly with a little more graffiti than the last time I looked. As he was chosen for such a public tribute because of his universal, cross-cultural appeal one has to hope there wasn’t a repeat of the vandalism that saw him removed the first time.

Dancing on ice!

Dancing on ice is, I assuming, what two battered BMWs thought they were doing on the Boulevard tonight. I hope they were enjoying themselves because their fish-tailing antics did not meet with the approval of my passengers so we took a left turn to avoid being involved in any unnecessary incidents. However, driving on ice has its challenges. Tonight I dropped two co-workers home to two tricky locations. One required a stop half way up a one-way street on an icy hill. I quickly realised we were not going to get moving again, at least not forwards. We inched the Transporter back the way we’d come, hazards on, hoping nothing would come the right way. It worked; despite the narrowness, the parked cars and the occasional nudging of the curb. The other tricky spot was in a village just out of town. The combination of fully iced-over roads, gusting winds and snow flurries certainly made my passenger nervous. Perhaps I was giving the impression I was going to go faster, or reach of the handbra...
